About us
Heat Ridge Sauna was created from the belief in the healing power of little things like warmth, nature and aromatics.We are not some quick pop-up sauna. Many thousands of hours of labour and hundreds of tonnes of soil and rock was moved to create this tranquil space. The idea is you get the benefit of something like 'forrest bathing' while you sauna.We are for people who like traditional sauna culture; hot, peaceful, cosy, set in nature, with views and the aroma of cedar.Most of all, we want you to enjoy yourself and maybe even bliss out for a while.

How is the place kept clean?There is a 15min buffer between bookings when the sauna is hygienically cleansed with natural disinfectants.
This also means you can enjoy the full hour & not have to rush out. Just try not to be more than 5min early when arriving or 5min late when leaving, to allow sufficient time for cleaning.Is it wheelchair accessible?Unfortunately not. Due to the steps & stone paths, this location is not suitable for those with mobility issues.Are bookings totally private?Yes, all sauna appointments are only for you & the people you invite.
You will only see the host on your first appointment for a quick tour. Otherwise the place is totally private & secluded. But there is a bell if you ever need help with anything.What are the reasons to take a sauna?A sauna is primarily a relaxing & restorative experience. It is like hitting a mental/physical reset button.
Perhaps that is the main reason why it has been so popular through the ages and across many cultures.
A sauna is also a great place to stretch, catch up with friends or get some alone time.What are the reasons to not take a sauna?The major contraindications to sauna are; any acute infections, open wounds, blood pressure or cardiovascular conditions, pregnancy, postpartum & sensitivity to heat.
Anybody with major medical conditions should get the OK from their Doctor first.Is the sauna Infrared?No, it is a traditional HOT ROCK sauna for people who like hot saunas.
Unlike cramped barrel saunas, it has an upper & lower bench so you can regulate the intensity of your session. With plenty of space to stretch out.
And you are welcome to throw water on the rocks for a hot blast! You can even pick garden herbs and place them in a bowl above the heater for aromatherapy. There can be lots to choose from like rose, lavender, lemon myrtle, pink jasmine and others depending on the season.What should I bring?Bring 2 towels per person, plenty of water & bathers. There is an outdoor shower close by to rinse off.
